Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Marking 11 years of the Narendra Modi-led central government, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a scathing attack, accusing it of making "unfulfilled promises" and giving it "zero marks" for performance. In a pointed critique, he claimed the Centre has failed to address key national issues, including unemployment, farmers’ grievances, and financial commitments to states like Karnataka.
Siddaramaiah questioned the government’s achievements, citing failures on demonetisation, employment generation, and resolving farmer protests. “He promised two crore jobs every year and ‘Achhe Din’—what happened to those?” he asked, adding that the Centre survives only due to continuous campaigning and media coverage rather than meaningful governance.
He further alleged that several of Karnataka’s welfare schemes were initially mocked by BJP leaders but were later copied in states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. He also raised concerns over fiscal federalism, saying the Centre did not deliver the promised funds of ₹5,300 crore or the 11th Pay Commission’s ₹11,495 crore recommendation for Karnataka.
Accusing the central government of ignoring Karnataka’s financial needs and spinning fake narratives, Siddaramaiah concluded his remarks by assigning “zero marks” to the Modi government. He called on the media to hold the Centre accountable instead of merely echoing its campaign lines.
